Running your own payroll in-house means you have complete responsibility for all of the following:
- Maintaining and upgrading your payroll software - this could include annual charges and lost time in undertaking the upgrade.
- Keeping on top of relevant legislation.
- All stationery requirements - payslips, envelopes, paper, etc. This can be more than you think!
- Providing PC's, printers and IT support.
- Backing up your payroll information system regularly, and have an active disaster recovery plan.
- Staff costs, which could involve training, administration, filing and the minefield of holiday, sickness and other leave to cover as well as the ever-increasing cost of recruiting!
