Using a payroll bureau means your payroll department will still have responsibility for:
- Collating all your payroll data
- Calculating any overtime and National Insurance Contributions
- Updating statutory payments and administering pension payments
Once this information is collected, the data is sent to your payroll bureau services provider electronically who will run the payroll on your behalf. This sounds like "outsourcing" but still means you have to:
- Employ qualified payroll staff - investing in training, and time spent on administration
- Organise cover for holiday, sickness and other leave for payroll staff
- Incur recruitment costs of payroll staff
- Keep up to date with legislation
